About Amnesty - McMaster Chapter
Amnesty International is an organization that campaigns for human rights everywhere in accordance with the
UN Declaration of Human Rights. The numbers for groups are assigned based on order of establishment; thus we, at McMaster University, are proud to represent Amnesty International Group 8.
As a local chapter, we research human rights conflicts across the globe in order to support the basic rights and freedoms of individuals everywhere. Events and campaigns we hold are coffee houses, awareness concerts, letter writing campaigns, vigils, petitions, movie nights, and discussions.

Amnesty is an amazing club with limitless potential, and we look forward to having new members who will bring forth their ideas, innovations, creativity, and enthusiasm to our group!
Although these applications are specific to each position, there are some fundamental expectations for every member on the executive, regardless of their role. We are looking for members who will have time for and be dedicated to Amnesty, as we have a lot planned for next year. Every exec member must attend weekly executive meetings, to be held on Sundays at 8 pm, and uphold the responsibilities designated to them. We really want members who know they can put a lot of energy and effort into making this club grow and be successful. Please apply for a position if you know that you will be able to uphold these responsibilities and be a dedicated member.
Thank you again for your interest! We are so pleased with the amount of response and interest that we have seen this year. We are looking forward to hearing from you soon!
